Ryne Stanek, RHP, Arkansas - Through his first five starts, the 6’-4” right-hander had a 3.75 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 20 K/13 BB over 21.2 innings. His stock was plummeting as people questioned his control and ability to go late in games as his 4.2 IP/per start was concerning for someone considered a frontline starter. Over his last five starts, he has clearly quieted critics and has placed himself back in talks for the top 5-10 picks in the 2013 MLB draft. Derik Beauprez RHP/1B Cherry Creek HS, Greenwood Village, Colo. - Ht.: 6-5. Wt.: 220. B/T: L/R - Beauprez is a tall, lean righthander with a live arm. His fastball sits in the low 90s with life and touches higher. He adds in a tight breaking ball and changeup to give him a solid three-pitch mix. He also plays first base and flashes good raw power from the left side. RHP Ian McCarthy, USC -- McCarthy hopes to factor into the equation for the Trojans in his final season with the program. He made 10 appearances and had a 1.93 ERA in 42 innings. The Prep Baseball Report Western PA Top Prospect Showcase on August 15 included five catchers who showcased their abilities for college coaches at Pullman Park in Butler, PA. The top two catchers in the group were Brian Bohman (McDowell), ranked No. 54 in the Class of 2013, and Jake Kleindl (Shady Side Academy), ranked No. 38 in the Class of 2014. Kleindl is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound catcher with projectable size and athleticism. He showcased a top pop time of 2.06 and a velocity of 77mph to second base. Ball is a nice sized player at 6’6 whose future is undecided in terms of position. Scouts like his long body and left handed arm that displays a solid feel for his off speed stuff. The White Sox countered with projectable 6-foot-6, 180-pound southpaw Trey Ball (New Castle, Ind.), who struck out three over three scoreless frames, also yielding just one hit. The Texas recruit figures to add velocity to his 87-89 mph frame as he fills out, and he already has excellent feel for his 82-83 changeup with good bottom. Flame-throwing southpaw Sean Manaea (Indiana State) of Hyannis accomplished a rare clean sweep by winning two of the most coveted postseason honors in the Cape Cod Baseball League.  The 6’5”, 215-pounder captured both the B.F.C. Dalton Dulin, the starting second baseman for the Washington Nationals, was the key sparkplug in a 12-3 win over the New York Yankees in the first of the three games Monday.
