2013 Draft-Notes - Trey Ball, Sean Manaea, Dalton Dulin, Clint Freeman

The White Sox countered with projectable 6-foot-6, 180-pound southpaw Trey Ball (New Castle, Ind.), who struck out three over three scoreless frames, also yielding just one hit. The Texas recruit figures to add velocity to his 87-89 mph frame as he fills out, and he already has excellent feel for his 82-83 changeup with good bottom. He also flashed a promising curveball in the 75-77 range. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/2012/08/area-code-games-notebook-day-two/

Flame-throwing southpaw Sean Manaea (Indiana State) of Hyannis accomplished a rare clean sweep by winning two of the most coveted postseason honors in the Cape Cod Baseball League.  The 6’5”, 215-pounder captured both the B.F.C. Whitehouse Top Pitcher Award and Robert A. McNeece Outstanding Pro Prospect Award after posting a 5-1 record with a 1.22 ERA and a league-leading 85 strikeouts for the Harbor Hawks. http://v2.capecodbaseball.org/news/season/index.html?article_id=1445

Dalton Dulin, the starting second baseman for the Washington Nationals, was the key sparkplug in a 12-3 win over the New York Yankees in the first of the three games Monday. Dulin had three singles in four at-bats, recorded three steals, drove in a run and scored twice. http://espn.go.com/blog/high-school/baseball/post/_/id/2225/zinger-offensive-player-of-the-day-aug-6

1B Clint Freeman, East Tennessee State -- Freeman had a big-time spring campaign with a batting average over .350, seven homers and 50 RBIs. He also excelled this summer, leading the Alaska League in hitting with a .379 average, 14 doubles, three homers and 24 RBIs. http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=7516
