Minor Rags: - Tim Teufel, Jose Coronado... and Stefan Welsh

Bisons:

The Bisons had hoped to come back to Buffalo for Wednesday's home opener with a share of first place in the North Division of the International League. The Syracuse Chiefs spoiled that hope Tuesday night, rallying for a 4-3 victory over the Herd before 2,559 at Alliance Bank Stadium, where the Bisons are 4-14 in their last 18 visits. A split of the two-game series with the Chiefs would have left the teams tied at the top of the division. Instead the Bisons come home with a 3-3 record for their opening road trip. - link

B-Mets:

Tim Teufel knew he erred on the side of caution once, so he wasn't about to do it again -- and it paid off in the Binghamton Mets' 2-0 victory over the Erie SeaWolves on Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium.Teufel, the B-Mets' manager and third base coach, waved Jose Coronado home on a fifth-inning Kirk Nieuwenhuis single to right field. Coronado scored when Erie catcher Max St. Pierre couldn't handle the relay throw, helping the B-Mets (3-3) break a scoreless game."That was more of an aggressive play," Teufel said. "It hit off the first baseman's glove (on the way to right field), so I knew that slowed it down a little bit. ... It's a chance you take during the game." - link

Lucy:

First baseman Stefan Welch hit a grand-slam in the sixth inning to stake the St. Lucie Mets to a 9-2 lead, but they had to hold on Tuesday night in a 9-6 win over the visiting Palm Beach Cardinals. The Mets collected 14 hits. Welch was 2-for-5 on the night and Richard Lucas added a two-run, home run in the second as the Mets improved to 2-3. The Cardinals scored four runs in the top of the ninth but couldn’t come any closer. - link

Gnats:

Luke Anders is one of the big hitters in the Augusta GreenJackets' lineup - for more reasons than one. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound first baseman had two doubles and three runs batted in to lead Augusta to an 8-3 victory Tuesday night over the Savannah Sand Gnats at Grayson Stadium. Anders drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, then doubled and scored in the fourth inning - link
