Moore Q&A, Mejia to Strech Out, Salaries... and Vulture Deal

Moore Q&A:

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "5 4 4-14: - Dillon Gee, Manager Torre, Bryce Harpe...": “Disappointed that Sand Gnats don't seem to be using Moore very much~ only as a piggy back. When will we actually see him start? Any chance he could be moving up to Port St Lucie?”

It’s a little early to be considering bump ups, especially with SPs. The problem here is the fact that PSL has six starters of their own, two of which are being piggy backed. No, I think things will stay the same in Savannah, pitching wise, up to the all-star break. There really isn’t any power bats there this season and they could use all the quality pitching they can find, and keep.

Mejia To Stretch Out?

Manager Jerry Manuel said sending Jenrry Mejia to the minors to stretch back out as a starting pitcher has been debated within the organization. However, Mejia will remain in the big-league bullpen for now, which Manuel favors. Mejia ultimately projects as a front-of-the-rotation starter for the Mets. And given John Maine's uncertain status in the rotation beyond his next start, and shaky showings from Oliver Perez as well, it could be beneficial for Mejia to be returned to Double-A Binghamton to stretch out for potential starting duty. The 20-year-old right-hander has averaged an inning an appearance this season. – link

-gee… I have an idea… how about the starter that was 2nd in the team last each in eating innings, and pitched lights out in the winter and the spring… Nelson Figeroa!!!!. Err… never mind…

Salaries:

1. $206,333,389 - New York Yankees (Alex Rodriguez 33,000,000)

5. $134,422,942 - New York Mets (Johan Santana $20,144,707)

30. $34,943,000 - Pitsburgh Pirates (Paul Maholm $5,000,000

-now, you wouldthink this would bother A-Rod...  like, pay the man another mil...

Vulture Deal:

John Maine is a mechanical mess right now, and his velocity is also cause for concern. It will be interesting to see how the Mets deal with this; I know a few teams are hoping that they panic and they can vulture in on a deal. - baseballprospectus

-I don't see this happening...  if anything, I think the Mets will try and determine who in their organization represents their future and play them after the all-star break. The Mets need two front line starters before they can compete again in the division
