6/20/10
Indianapolis 9, Buffalo 3
from press release:
Buffalo made a season-high four miscues -including one in the ninth inning and two in the 10th- in a 9-3 defeat to the Indianapolis Indians from Coca-Cola Field. Holding a 3-2 edge in the ninth inning, the Bisons were just three outs away from their fourth win in five games. But the Indians began their game-tying rally when Steve Pearce singled off of Manny Acosta to lead off the frame. Then, Buffalo's Josh Thole was charged with a catcher's interference on Jeff Clement. That pushed Pearce into scoring position, and three batters later, he scored on Argenis Diaz's single. Things then unraveled for Buffalo in the 10th. Indy's Erik Kratz led off the inning with a shallow fly ball to left field off reliever Roy Merritt. Left fielder Lucas Duda and shortstop Justin Turner converged, but neither took charge. The ball dropped in for one error and then Duda threw the ball away trying to get Kratz at second base. The double-error put Kratz at third base and opened the flood gates. Buffalo had a 3-2 lead in the ninth on RBI-hits from Duda and Thole and the fourth inning and a pinch hit RBI-single from Andy Green in the sixth. Indy's rally spoiled a great start from Dillon Gee. The righty allowed just two runs (one earned) in six innings and struck out seven.
BISONS NOTES: Jorge Padilla came into the game as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning for his Bisons debut. Padilla was acquired by the Mets in a trade with Toronto on Saturday...
