LAST GAME: Brad Holt walked four batters and Jordany Valdespin committed two errors in a four-run fourth inning for the Trenton Thunder as they defeated the B-Mets 5-3 last night at Waterfront Park. Holt lasted just 3.1 innings en route to his second loss. The right-hander wound up matching a season-high with five walks on the night. He was relieved by Edgar Ramirez who turned in a solid performance by allowing just one run over 4.2 innings. Before things unraveled in the bot-tom of the fourth, the B-Mets had taken an early 2-0 lead on Eric Campbell’s home run in the top half of the frame, a two-run shot off Thunder starter Kei Igawa. The Japanese left-hander shook off Campbell’s blow and made it through six innings to earn his second win of the year. Wilkins Arias al-lowed an unearned run in two innings of relief and Fernando Hernandez threw a perfect ninth to lock down his sixth save of the year. The B-Mets put just seven runners on base.
STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Robert Carson makes his seventh start of the season. The Mississippi native allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits over 4.1 innings in a loss to the New Britain Rock Cats in his most recent start on May 9. He walked a season-high five in the contest.
RHP Dellin Betances makes his fifth start of the season. The New York native has allowed just two earned runs in 18.0 innings this year. The right-hander is on a two-game winning streak, having thrown five shutout innings against the Reading Phillies in his last start on May 9. Betances was selected by the Yankees in the 8th round of the 2006 draft out of Grand Street HS (Brooklyn, NY).
BOTTOM TWO-THIRDS ABSENT: The final six hitters in the B-Mets batting order hit a combined .056 (1-for-18) with eight strike outs against three Trenton pitchers last night. Jose Coro-nado had the only hit, a single off Wilkin Arias in the seventh.
CONSISTENTLY ABOARD: Josh Satin has reached base safely in 16 straight games. The last time the B-Mets infielder failed to reach base came against the Portland Sea Dogs on April 27, when he went 0-for-4 in a fog-shortened game. Satin is third in the league with a .436 on-base percentage.
CONSISTENTLY IN THE LINEUP: Josh Satin is the only B-Met to have started every game this season. Satin has logged 20 starts at second base, seven starts at first, and five as the designated hitter.
NOT READY FOR THE WEEKEND: With their loss last night, the B-Mets are now 0-6 on Fridays
