RHP Jeurys Familia takes the mound tonight for a league-leading
20th start. Familia is coming off back-to-back quality starts. In those two
wins, the righty has allowed 10 hits, one earned run, two walks and 11
strikeouts in 12.1 innings of work. Familia also delivered a quality start the
last time he faced the Mud Hens, On June 1 in Toledo, Familia allowed just
three runs on six hits in six innings, but fell in defeat.
Turned out that this
was possibly Familia’s best outing of the season. Went eight innings, gave up
one run, had nine strikeouts, and threw over 100 pitches. That’s a big day for
me!
