Savannah Slugs Delmarva

The Delmarva Shorebirds (6-15) dropped the series finale to the Savannah Sand Gnats (9-13) 10-6 on Friday night. Delmarva also lost three of four games in the series.
Savannah's attack began early on with two of the first three batters of the game being walked. Following a Brian Harrison infield single, Dustin Lawley hit a bases clearing double down the left field line to put Savannah up 3-0. The Sand Gnats would put another run on the board as Charley Thurber hit an infield single to score Lawley.
Neither team scored in the second, but the Sand Gnats struck again in the top half of the third. Gregory Pron struck a one out double into the left center gap to score Dustin Lawley to stretch the Savannah lead to 5-0.
Delmarva came back in the home half of the third with a run of their own when Taylor Teagarden lined a single into center field to knock in Mychal Givens from second to cut the deficit to 5-1.
The 'Birds clawed two runs across the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. Glynn Davis led off the inning with a single and worked his way to third with the help of a balk and a wild pitch from Sand Gnats starter Alex Panteliodis. He was later driven in by Taylor Teagarden's sacrifice fly to center field. Michael Ohlman singled to center with two outs and was driven in by Connor Narron's double to deep right field.
Savannah stretched their lead to 6-3 as Charley Thurber led off the sixth inning with a double to left field. He came across the plate following Delmarva starter Williams Louico's wild pitch. The seventh inning proved to be big for the 'Birds as they tied the game up off the bat of Connor Narron. Nicky Delmonico and Michael Ohlman reached on singles and Connor Narron smacked a two-out three run home run over the right field fence. It's his ninth long ball on the season.
However, the Sand Gnats roared back in the top of the eighth inning as Brandon Brown launched a two run home run down the left field line that just got out of the ballpark. The homer is only the third by Brown this season.
Savannah added a few more insurance runs in the ninth inning beginning with Cole Frenzel's one out RBI single to right to plate Dustin Lawley. The next batter, Gregory Pron smacked his second double of the night into left center field to plate Frenzel, which put Savannah up 10-6. This was Savannah's fourth unanswered run after Delmarva had tied it at six.
Savannah starter Alex Panteliodis went four and two-third innings yielding three runs on seven hits as well as a walk and a strike out.
The winning pitcher in the game was Marcos Camarena (6-2) who pitched three and one-third innings and gave up three runs on four hits and acquired three strikeouts.
The starting pitcher for Delmarva was Williams Louico who pitched five and two third innings and surrendered four earned runs on six hits. He struck out only one batter while giving up three free passes.
Eric Wooten (0-1) picked up the loss pitching three and one third innings of relief for the Shorebirds. He gave up three runs on three hits while striking out three.
