Minor Rags: - Dice-K, F-Mart, Shaw, Satin... and Flores

Bisons:

Daisuke Matsuzaka believes he's ready to return to the Boston Red Sox and the way he pitched Thursday evening against the Buffalo Bisons, perhaps he's right. Matsuzaka, playing with the Pawtucket Red Sox on an injury rehabilitation assignment, looked strong in six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out two. But the Bisons spoiled the PawSox's night in the bottom of the 10th when Fernando Martinez's single to right drove in Alex Cintron to give the Herd a 3-2 victory at Coca-Cola Field. - link

B-Mets:

Starting pitcher Scott Shaw earned his first win of the season, allowing three runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. Relievers Clint Everts and Roy Merritt allowed a combined three runs over the next three innings, before John Lujan earned his second save, striking out two in a scoreless ninth. Everts, who cleared waivers and was sent outright to Binghamton on Thursday, was tagged for two hits, two earned runs and a walk over a third of an inning in the sixth. -

Lucy:

What started out as a slugfest ended up with a lot of scoreless innings. All the runs were scored in the first inning, which turned into a Palm Beach Cardinals 7-5 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Thursday at Digital Domain Park. Palm Beach (1-5) scored seven runs in the first inning. Tony Cruz and Jose Garcia had RBI doubles and Osvaldo Morales and Richard Racobaldo had RBI singles. The Mets came back with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. Eric Campbell had a two-run double and Stefan Welch, Richard Lucas and Joshua Satin added RBI singles. - link

Gnats:

Savannah Sand Gnats shortstop Wilmer Flores isn't concerned about statistics. Of course, it's easy to be that way when you're hitting .364. But his two hits and two fielding gems helped end a number Flores does care about - a four-game losing streak - as the Gnats defeated the Augusta GreenJackets, 4-1, on Thursday night at Grayson Stadium. Savannah (4-4) salvaged the last game of the four-game series with the San Francisco Giants affiliate.- link
