The Cyclones earned their first home shutout victory when they beat the Batavia Muckdogs on Wednesday night by a score of 4-0. The win brings the Cyclones' record to 31-15 overall, increasing their lead over the Hudson Valley Renegades for first place in the McNamara Division to 7.5 games.Brooklyn's pitching was dominant, allowing just three hits while striking out seven in the game. RHP Yohan Almonte earned his fifth win of the season, throwing seven impressive innings, striking out five and not allowing a run to lower his ERA to 2.03. LHP Adam Kolarek came on in the eighth inning to close out the game, tossing two scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out two.
Brooklyn's offense put together a solid performance, tallying four runs on eight hits. RF Cory Vaughn notched his 40th RBI of the season, going 2-for-3 with one run in the process. 1B Jeff Flagg, 1-for-3, registered the only other RBI for the Cyclones on a sixth-inning single to center. SS Rylan Sandoval, CF Darrell Ceciliani, DH Joe Bonfe, and C Blake Forsythe each went 1-for-3 with one run scored on the day. 2B Justin Schafer registered a hit in a 1-for-3 performance in his first appearance with the Cyclones. The two other Cyclones' runs were scored on an error in the first inning off a Vaughn single and a ground ball double play by LF Will Cherry in the fifth inning.
