Cutnpaste: - Baseball Gangsta, Baseball Hell, Final-Year Arbitration-Eligibles, Cory Vaughn... and Chris Carter

Baseball Gangsta:

link  - Hell, maybe it started way back in 1981 when he started hurting the Mets by driving in the winning run in the game that clinched a playoff spot for the Expos. It was a game I looked up after watching the 1994 Expos story on MLB Network, which was good television. If I was blogging when I was 10 years old, I probably would have pitched a fit seeing Ellis Valentine in the Expos locker roomwhile they were celebrating. Could care less that Valentine probably got a playoff share that season, stay with your own teammates. And by the way, besides Manuel, there were four five other future managers that played in that game (Cubbage was not the one I forgot). Can you name them without looking at the boxscore? But it's complete tonight. It's complete because this team consistently wastes good pitching. Because David Wright has resigned to olĂ© his way through life. Because Frankie would rather beat up than man up. Because this team has all its money tied up in Bernie Madoff and Oliver Perez. Other than that, I have no idea. But I'm not the gangsta. I'm not supposed to have one.

Baseball Hell:

link  - Mets fans are trapped in baseball hell. If these Mets had suffered the injuries the Phillies have suffered this season that would have been another excuse by management, kind of like last year's excuse for the Mets. The Phillies are right there, two games back of the Braves, making deals for Roy Oswalt even though they have an ace like Halladay (15-8, 2.24). The Mets had to pitch Pat Misch. That's the Mets in a nutshell. The Phillies have Halladay on the mound and the Mets have a journeyman just called up from the minors, a pitcher who should have had Perez's spot on the roster. This is another Lost Season, another season when being a Mets fans is always having to say you are sorry. After a while, though, it all gets so old. Even for the fans. Saying you are sorry is not enough anymore. Those are just empty words masking a sorry franchise.

Final-Year Arbitration-Eligibles:

link  - Expected To Be Tendered Contracts - R.A. Dickey, Mets - $600K. - Non-Tender Candidates - Jeff Francoeur, Mets - $5MM. - John Maine, Mets - $3.3MM. -

Cory Vaughn:

8-16-10 from: - link  - He has displayed even more pop this season for the Brooklyn Cyclones. Through his first 184 at bats, he has connected for 12 home runs and 43 RBI’s, totals that leave him just shy of two Cyclones team records. He only needs one more home run and three more RBI’s to surpass Frank Corr’s 2001 campaign. Vaughn has been the rare player that has made the seamless transition from hitting with a metal bat to a wood bat. Most players including star Cyclones player Darrell Ceciliani struggle their first season, but not Vaughn.

Chris Carter:

link  - Chris Carter was one of the last Mets to leave the locker room Sunday after all the bags were packed. The flight to Houston would take off soon. On his way out, though, he did his best to reverse the lingering sentiment to whoever would listen. To keep open a window some of his teammates had admitted was closing. “It ain’t over yet,” Carter said, heading for the back door of the locker room. “It ain’t over yet.” - need as much of this that the locker room can hold...
