Chris Schwinden limited Harrisburg to a run on two hits over six innings and left with a one-run lead, but Binghamton could not hold on and fell 5-4 to the Senators Wednesday afternoon at Metro Bank Park. Josh Satin was a perfect 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBI to lead the B-Mets offensive attack. Binghamton (56-61) took the lead early in the second when Sean Ratliff teed off on a Tom Milone fastball, sending it out to right for his 14th bomb of the season. Harrisburg (62-55) responded in the third with its only run against Schwinden. Devin Ivany drew a walk to begin the frame and took third on Brad Coon’s single to left. With runners at the corners and nobody out, Milone lifted a sacrifice fly to center, tying the score at 1-1. The B-Mets got the lead back in the sixth. Jordany Valdespin and Satin ripped singles off Milone to start the frame. A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third and Luke Montz plated Valdespin with a sacrifice fly to left, giving Binghamton the lead back, 2-1. The bullpen took things over in the seventh after Schwinden’s departure. Eddie Kunz entered for the starter and allowed a pair of hits to Jesus Valdez and Chris Marrero. Roy Merritt spelled him after facing two batters and gave up a game-tying double to pinch-hitter Ofilio Castro, which scored Valdez. Then, Edgardo Baez smacked a bases-clearing double to left-center, vaulting the Senators into a 4-2 lead. Coon capped the inning’s scoring with an RBI single off the third reliever of the frame, Dylan Owen, making it 5-2.
Satin provided the answer in the eighth with a two-run blast to center off right-hander Dan Leatherman, his second homer in as many games, bringing the B-Mets within a run, 5-4. Binghamton put runners at second and third with nobody out in the ninth against Harrisburg closer Cole Kimball, but failed to tally. The right-hander stranded the bases full when he got Jordany Valdespin to fly out to left, ending the game and earning his fifth save. Milone was credited with his second straight win over the B-Mets. He tossed seven innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts. Kunz was charged with the loss, his seventh, after allowing two runs on two hits without recording an out.
