LAST GAME: Noah Syndergaard struck out seven in his Double-A debut and the offense backed him with four home runs as the B-Mets beat the Erie SeaWolves, 7-2 Sunday afternoon. The 20-year-old earned the win after allowing two runs and five hits in six innings. Richard Lucas hit two solo home runs to lead the offense. Cesar Puello and Rhyne Hughes also went deep. Adam Kolarek and John Church combined for three perfect innings of relief to slam the door on the SeaWolves.
 
BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Erik Goeddel makes his 14th start for the B-Mets, and his third against the Sea Dogs. Both of his previous starts against Portland have been at Hadlock Field, and he has allowed six runs in 10.0 combined innings. Goeddel has won five straight decisions in 2013, and Binghamton is 10-3 in his starts. In June, he is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA. Opponents are batting .209 against him this month. In April, he went 1-2 with a 5.70 ERA and had a .326 batting average against. On the road, Goeddel is 4-1 with a 4.19 ERA in eight starts.

PORTLAND STARTING PITCHER: RHP Anthony Ranaudo makes his 14th start of the season for the Sea Dogs, and his fourth against Binghamton. He is 1-0 in those games, and has given up three runs in 13.2 innings. On April 15, Ranaudo threw 5.0 no-hit innings in a win over the B-Mets. He leads the league with a 2.34 ERA, and a .181 batting average against. He has posted a WHIP of 0.96, ranking just behind former B-Met Rafael Montero. In 73.0 innings pitched, he has struck out 82 batters. He has won three straight decisions. At home, he is 3-1 with a 1.78 ERA in six starts.

NINE STRAIGHT SERIES: Sunday’s win over Erie gave the B-Mets their ninth consecutive series victory. They have either won or split the last 13 series, and have not lost one since May 6-8 @ Trenton (1-2). In each of the past three series, Binghamton has lost the series opener before winning the final two games to win the series. Binghamton is now 8-2 in rubber games in 2013. They dropped their first two of the season, but have won eight straight since then.
18 OVER .500: Binghamton currently has the best record in the Eastern League. They are 46-28, and are 18 games over .500 for the first time since August 30, 2004 (76-58). They lead Portland and Trenton by 8.0 games each, which is their biggest division lead of the season.

BIG STRETCH: Each of the next eight games for the B-Mets are against teams tied for second place in the Eastern Division. Monday begins a three-game series at Hadlock Field against Portland. On Thursday, the Trenton Thunder visit NYSEG Stadium for a five-game series.

AGAINST PORTLAND: The B-Mets face the Portland Sea Dogs for the 14th time this season on Monday. Entering play, they are 7-6 against them and are 3-3 at Hadlock Field. Binghamton has won three straight games, and are playing the Sea Dogs for the first time since May 27. They play each other a total of 20 times in 2013.

USING THE LONG BALL: Binghamton his a season-high four home runs in Sunday’s win over Erie. The last time the B-Mets hit four home runs in one game was July 23, 2012 against New Britain. All four home runs were solo shots. Richard Lucas became the second B-Met this season to hit two homers in one game. Cesar Puello has done it twice this year.

B-METS IN JUNE: In the month of June, Binghamton is 15-4. As a team they are batting .289, and have a staff ERA of 2.83. They have hit 27 home runs in 19 games, with Cesar Puello and Allan Dykstra combining for 13 of them.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their three-game series against the Sea Dogs on Tuesday at Hadlock Field. LHP Darin Gorski makes the start for Binghamton against RHP Keith Couch. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM.
