DiLauro takes lose in Dodgers walk-off win

The Mets wrap up with the Dodoges as they complete their final West Coast roadtrip of the season. Jerry Koosman didn’t have his best stuff but battled through 9 hits over 6 innings, giving up four runs, three earned. 

Trailing 4-0, New York mounted a comeback in the 8^th off Dodger starter Claude Osteen. With one out PH Bobby Pfeil singled and driven home by Tommie Agee’s 24^th homerun of the year. Now down 4-2, the Mets 8^th inning rally continued with Buddy Harrelson’s two out single and culiminated with Donn Clendenon’s big fly, his 12^th, which tied the score at 4. 

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.  Met reliever Jack Di Lauro came on and after retiring the first batter, gave up a single to Maury Wills. LF Manny Mota sacrificed Wills to 2^nd, and with a runner in scoring position, Willie Davis smacked a two-bagger to left, giving LA a walk-off win. 

Luckily, the Cubs were shut out by Cincinnati so the Mets lost no ground in the NL East. After a travel day Thursday, it’s back to home to Shea for two Friday against the Phils.
