OPEN THREAD - Mel Stottlemyre




Ex-New York Mets pitching coach, Mel Stottlemyre, died this morning.

He was 77 years old.

It's even sadder Thomas when you knew them at the same age range you are.

Mel was a kind soul.

The good news here is the pitchers that died young can get some good coaching up there now.

He is one of the few who worked for the Evil Empire who never seem to let the arrogance and self-entitlement tarnish him the way many others did. He always seemed approachable, thoughtful and dignified, words you don't often use with Yankee alums.

True Mack, but he still had several years on you. U R still the ace of the Macks Mets rotation...the highest paid...and still can break off a mean barb :)

Mel was a great man.
