John Franco becomes the first left-hander to record 300
saves, allowing just a hit and no runs in the top of the ninth inning in the
Mets' 3-2 victory over Montreal at Shea Stadium. The southpaw recorded his
first save exactly 12 years ago on this date wearing a Reds' uniform.

2013:
The Marlins earn a rare victory, 4 - 3, over the Mets
with a two-run rally in the bottom of the 15th inning. Ruben Tejada gives the Mets a 3 - 2 lead with
an infield single off Jon
Rauch in the top of the 15th, but the Fish come back on Rob Brantly's single and Nick
Green's sacrifice fly against Shaun Marcum, the Mets' ninth pitcher of the
night. It is the first time Miami wins back-to-back games this year, but the
win is costly as the team's best hitter, Giancarlo Stanton, pulls a hamstring
running out a ground ball in the 10th and is immediately
placed on the disabled list.
2016
- The Mets
score a team record 12 runs in the 3rd inning in defeating the Giants, 13 - 1. Yoenis Cespedes collects 6 RBIs in the frame
with a two-run single off Jake
Peavy and a grand
slam off Mike Broadway. Steven Matz is the winner.

That East would make for a darned tough division.
The bullpen will be the Mets’ make or break.
I don't get the East alignment. How can the Braves be in a different division than Miami and Tampa Bay. I would swap the Pirates with the Braves.
While this plan cuts down on travel and makes it possible for teams to transition to games with fans should the virus get under control, I don't think this plan will work as teams would still need to take planes. The Florida/Arizona plan seem more workable from a player safety point.
Florida and Arizona to start, maybe home fields after mid July or Aug 1. That would allow more time, but Fl and Az are both really hot in midsummer, so I can understand player reluctance to be there.
You would have to play all the games in the Dome Stadiums.
Yeah, turn on the A/C - and John, I don't see how they could logistically do that...Florida has what, two domed stadiums? Arizona, one? For 15 games a day?
Cuomo wants the games in NY - tax revenues are needed - badly.
NYC's density will make it tough...why not play all the games in Albany?
