I will be patient and wait for the relentless, ruthless genius to complete his off season extreme Mets makeover.
I read the Cohen article last night, and Britton did alot of work on it. It was loaded with information from all walks: art dealers, co-workers of Cohen, competitors of Cohen, friends of Cohen... just a great read. The Steinbrenner line was his closing line and Steinbrenner was just an impatient owner, he didn’t do anything genius until he got suspended and Gene Michael came in to clean up the organization and put it on a good road. After that, Steinbrenner stayed out of baseball decisions and the Yankees have been winning lots of games every year.
This was my favorite line: “He’s got balls,” Gagosian said. “He plays big.”
Also, it was heart warming to hear that he has opened 19 clinics all over the country and will open 6 more to help combat veterans and their families get back to coping with civilian life.
Texas Gus, nice synopsis. Like I have been saying, you don't make the money he has in his business without being incredibly sharp. I am excited that strong decisions will be forthcoming in the Cohen era.
Off topic, but related in a way: I watched a little of the Nets NBA opener last night, with Durant and company just trouncing Golden State.
It shows you the value of elite acquisitions. They have to stay healthy but they sure looked like NBA title contenders from the snippets I saw. If they stay healthy.
