I woke up and felt like writing a recap. Weird, right?
Could the Mets come up with another miracle against the Atlanta Braves last night?
Not quite.
Adrian Houser pitched pretty poorly, or was it just the Braves juggernaut offense, but he left the game trailing 5-0. Hauser had a 5.20 ERA in spring training and has had a 5.40 ERA so far this season. That’s not good enough. No wowser from Houser.
Then, I got a little thrill, seeing one of the guys I have pulled for a lot in these columns over the years.
Dedniel Nunez threw two innings in his major league debut, allowing one run, but fanning three, including some high 96 MPH heat against Austin Riley for his first major league strikeout.
Going into the eighth, the Mets trailed six zip, but Pete Alonso then hit a three run shot, and the Mets tagged on two more runs in the ninth. Even with a 6-5 loss, it was Heartening to see the Mets hitting, with 12 hits, and Baty going 15 for 37 after game 1.
Omar Narvaez had 2 hits, too, and is rocking at .385. So, it appears the offense may be about to normalize, but starting pitching is in some disarray - keep juggling, David Stearns.
St. Lucie played, but JD Martinez did not. Neither did Syracuse. Will JD join them tonight?
The Lucie’s lost 9-5, with 5 runs, 6 hits, 11 BBs, and 14 Ks. It’s early. Two unnamed hitters were 0-8, with 7 Ks. See baseball, hit baseball. Or not, the choice is yours.
Colin Houck had a hit and 2 RBIs, and now has 4 RBIs in 4 games. He also walked twice and fanned twice, so he was busy.
In AA, Binghamton lost 2-0. Jett was hitless. The other BRP hitters compiled 7 hits.
Tidwell threw 5.2 innings of the dandy kind, with just an unearned run. Paul Gervase, who I hoped would start out in AAA, allowed a solo shot, his only runner allowed in 2.1 IP.
Kevin Parada (.375) had a hit and walk, and threw out a baserunner, but added a passed ball.
Brooklyn won 3-0. Ryan Clifford homered and fanned 3 times in 4 ABs.
The Cyclones’ Brandon Sproat was channeling Nolan Ryan, going 2.1 scoreless with just a hit and 5 Ks…but 5 walks, too. 63 pitches, 31 for Ks. But 63 pitches, just one hit allowed, so early indications are that he is totally hard to hit. Like Ryan was.
Attention you patient Jordany Ventura fans…JV threw 3.1 innings, not allowing a run and fanning five. Great sign.
Closing it out for a long save, 15th rounder Justin Lawson threw the final three innings, allowing one hit and fanning four in his minor league debut, sealing the shutout.
Way to go, Justin.

Well, Pete did strike out with the tying run on base to end it. A home run there would have brought Diaz in for the save. Acuna is just lethal…Ronald, that is.
I know I'm asking for alot but I really would like to see some WINNING down in the farm based on all the quality prospects we supposedly have and please don't tell me it's early as it's obviously not to early for the teams beating us. Also the comeback was nice but we still lost which is so ingrained in our DNA Mr. Stern needed to exorcise it ASAP. I guess overall I'm just not as patient as I used to be because my life clock has much less time on it than I would like and I know I have alot of company on this site in that regard so "Lets Go Mets" but quicker please.
Tom I know Ronald is a beast and I know LuisAngel isn't his brother but please don't be our Tommie Aaron to his brother Hank. A bit of a dropoff there.
Gary, one is awesome defensively. One is a question mark.
We see Mets hitting prospects slowly trudge thru the minors and struggle. Real star talents (emphasis on STAR) blaze thru. Soto stars in MLB at age 19. Bo Jackson had less than 200 minor league at bats before reaching the majors. Acuna was a star at age 20.
We never get those.

Mets catchers have allowed over20 steals already without a CS?
Har-Har-Hardy-Har-Har, to quote JackieGleason. MARTINEZ: his progression to the Majors has hit another snag. Martinez received a cortisone injection in his lower back Tuesday to treat tightness in the area. He will not swing a bat for three to five days while he recovers, which will push back his entire timeline.
Last spring with the Dodgers, Martinez dealt with a similar issue that also required cortisone to treat. He wound up missing 15 games.
It is so pathetic.
How about when Lindor, Pete, and Alvy start hitting?
Very strange, since in ST Alvy was nailing everybody!
It’s early, but the Mets DEEP minors has resulted in 4-5 Syracuse, and the other theee teams 1-3. So that is 7 of 21 games won so far.
and Vientos is still in Cuse? Also anyone here think we see Senga before June?
Gary, we’ll see Z senga in April…3025. These are the Mets, remember.
