Dillon Gee:
Gee was drafted out of the 22nd round (unspectacular) and was assigned to short-season Class-A Brooklyn for his minor league debut (unspectacular). He pitched well there, but by the start of the 2008 season, he was a 22-year-old in Port St. Lucie -- nothing to get too excited about. Gee was recently ranked as the #22 prospect for the Mets by Toby Hyde of Mets Minor League Blog. Solid, but unspectacular. You might see a pattern.[1]… [1] For what it's worth, Mack of Mack's Mets ranked Gee all the way up at #9 last year in his rankings. I don't know how he does it, but Mack is on top of EVERYTHING Mets minors. fonzieforever.
-you're welcome....
Manager Torre:
This would be a great PR move for the Mets, but would it make sense on the field? As we discussed yesterday Torre is a great leader of men, but isn’t exactly Tony LaRussa as an in game manager. I think a strong staff around Torre, especially a top notch pitching coach (Mets will rue dismissing Rick Peterson), would be a must. What better coach to help the Mets play “with a chip on their shoulder” than Larry Bowa? Imagine Torre, Bowa, and Donnie Baseball in Mets blue and orange? If you believe in Mattingly as a manager he could be the “in waiting candidate” after Torre cleans up the mess. Any success by Torre/Mattingly would burn the Yankees and that would make it doubly fun. Might even pay them back for Strawberry and Gooden winning titles across town. link
Bryce Harper:
Some scouts are worried that Bryce Harper, the consensus No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, has too much size at such a young age. Harper, who doesn't turn 18 until October, is 6-foot-2 and over 200 pounds. "You worry that if he gets too big, his swing just won't be quick enough when he starts facing guys who throw harder," a talent evaluator told ESPN.com's Buster Olney. "[Joe Mauer is the prototypical big catcher], but the thing about Mauer is that he's so athletic. Nothing is forced. Harper has a strong arm, but there is not nearly the fluidity that Mauer has." - rotoworld.
Constructing Rosters:
Gary Matthews Jr. and Mike Jacobs have shown themselves as clearly inferior players to (respectively) Angel Pagan and, well, anybody over the small sample size of seven games. But Mets fans didn’t start saying that — or questioning how the Mets construct rosters — in the last seven games. Fans have been saying it since approximately midwinter. Judging by the cherry blossoms and the daffodils up and down my street, midwinter was a while ago. These are not early concerns. - .faithandfearinflushing.
Brandon Moore:
Moore pitched a “perfect” first outing, giving up nothing and ending with an organizational leading 0.00 WHIP. I asked him “you're the organizational leader in lowest WHIP (0.00)... after the first week... know it's early, and you're not going to deal up any secrets here, but what's working well for you right now?”Moore answered: “I’m just getting on the mound and pitching the way i always have. I have the mind set no one can beat me. My thing is I dont care who is at the plate. I know i can get them out.” Boy, we could use a little of this thinking in Queens right now.

Disappointed that Sand Gnats don't use Moore as a starter~ only as a piggy back. When will we actually see him start? Any chance he could be moving up to Port St Lucie?
