DRAFT: - Ryan LaMarre, Bryan Morgado, Yasmani Grandal, Dallas Gallant... and Aaron Senne

Ryan LaMarre:

4-12 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/04/12/big-ten-players-of-the-week-9  - PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ryan LaMarre, Michigan - Jr., OF, Jackson, Mich./Lumen Christi - LaMarre earns his second career Player of the Week honor and his first this season after leading Michigan to a series win against Purdue over the weekend. The outfielder hit .692 and slugged 1.077 on the strength of three doubles and a triple vs. the Boilermakers. He also recorded three hits in every conference game, extending his hitting streak to 10 games dating back to last season. Against Central Michigan on Wednesday, LaMarre made his first start since suffering an injury at Texas Tech on Feb. 20. He went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in a 13-7 win. In eight appearances this season, LaMarre has four multi-hit games and is hitting .519 with a .704 slugging percentage.

Bryan Morgado:

4-8 from: - http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/draft-tracker/2010/269779.html  - Bryan Morgado, lhp, Tennessee - Last year, Morgado struck out 75 batters over 52 innings on his way to being a third-round pick by the White Sox as a draft-eligible sophomore. This year hasn't been as good. Last weekend against Ole Miss, Morgado gave up six runs on 10 hits over six innings. He did strike out seven but also walked four. The outing was right in line with his season performance thus far. Morgado is 2-3, 5.06 on the season with 49 strikeouts and 23 walks over 43 innings. Last season, Morgado pitched with more power after moving to a bullpen role, but he shined in the Cape Cod League, going 2-1, 3.06 with 47 strikeouts in 32 innings. He hasn't maintained that performance this spring, due in part to a different approach on the mound.

Yasmani Grandal:

4-12 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/04/12/acc-players-of-the-week-21  - Miami catcher Yasmani Grandal has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week. The Hurricanes’ Grandal recorded arguably the most productive week of his collegiate career, going 11-for-20 with four home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored in five games. Grandal homered in both mid-week games against Florida Atlantic – hitting a two-run blast at FAU on Tuesday and a three-run shot against the Owls at home on Wednesday – before hitting a pair of two-run homers against No. 25 Virginia Tech on Saturday. The Miami junior opened the weekend against the Hokies by recording a hit in each of his first six at-bats, going 4-for-4 with a pair of runs scored on Friday before opening the game Saturday with the homers in his first two at-bats. Grandal recorded multiple hits in four of UM’s five games on the week, added three walks to his 11 hits and reached safely on 14-of-23 plate appearances on the week.

Dallas Gallant:

4-12 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/04/12/southland-conference-players-of-the-week-7   - Sam Houston State right-handed pitcher Dallas Gallant has been named one of the Southland Co-Pitchers of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Gallant threw a complete-game two-hitter on Saturday to lead Sam Houston to a 7-1 victory over McNeese State less than 24 hours after the Cowboys had run-ruled the Bearkats, 14-1, in the series opener. The junior from Trinity, Texas (Trinity), struck out six against two walks. The victory turned the series around for Sam Houston, which also won 6-3 Sunday for the series win. He gave up only one unearned run in two appearances last week. The win was his first of the season.

Aaron Senne:

4-12 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/04/12/phillips-66-big-12-baseball-weekly-awards-3  - Aaron Senne (Missouri) has earned the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week honor. Aaron Senne, Missouri, 1B, Sr. 6-2, 199, Rochester, Minn./Mayo - In five games last week, Senne hit .609 (14-for-23), including a .533 mark in the series at No. 12 Oklahoma. He also tallied two home runs, three doubles and seven RBI. Senne, who is currently on a 16-game hitting streak, had multiple hits in each contest. The Rochester, Minn.-infielder was 3-for-4 in both of the Tigers’ midweek games against SIU-Edwardsville and Illinois. He again recorded a three-hit game in the opener of the OU series. On Saturday, Senne homered in his first at-bat and added a single in the fourth inning. He closed the week by going 3-for-5 with four RBI. He doubled in the third and singled in the fifth, then hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to break an 11-11 tie and carry Missouri to the 12-11 victory in the finale. On the year, Senne is hitting .460 with 15 doubles, 10 home runs and 38 RBI.
