Alex Panteliodis:
6-12 from: - link - Sophomore Alex Panteliodis (Tampa, Fla.) went the distance for his first career complete game and established a personal best with 12 strikeouts as No. 4 Florida (46-15) defeated No. 11 Miami (Fla.) (43-19), 7-2, in the opener of the best-of-three NCAA Gainesville Super Regional on Friday night. Panteliodis (11-2) retired the final 14 Hurricane hitters of the contest and yielded three hits to register UF’s first complete game since Stephen Locke accomplished the feat against Alabama on May 10, 2008. The southpaw’s effort was the first complete game by a Gator pitcher in the NCAA Tournament since Tommy Boss twirled nine innings in an 8-1 triumph over Florida State in Game 1 of the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional on June 10, 2005.
Bryce Brentz:
6-12 from: - http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/?p=2510 - The Red Sox have signed supplemental first-round pick Bryce Brentz for $892,000. An outfielder from Middle Tennessee State, Brent will report to short-season Lowell. Brentz was the 36th overall pick in the 2010 draft. His bonus is identical to that received by last year's No. 36 choice, Dodgers lefthander Aaron Miller.
Levi Michael:
6-12-10 from: - http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/wait-til-next-year-2011-draft-preview - Middle Infield - Best Player: Levi Michael, IF, UNC, .346/.480/.575. Michael skipped his final season of high school to attend North Carolina a year earlier, but his polish is such that you wouldn’t guess he’s a year younger than his peers. Probably a second baseman in the end, Michael cut down his strikeout rate (12.1%) by nine percent, and upped his walk rate (15.7%) by seven perfect as a sophomore. Michael is a good base runner (20-for-22 this season), has power in his bat, and will stick in the middle infield.
Mike Foltynewicz:
6-12 from: - http://brianmctaggart.mlblogs.com/archives/2010/06/foltynewicz-astros-reach-deal-on-bonus.html - The Astros have reached an agreement on a signing bonus with first-round Draft pick Mike Foltynewicz worth $1.3 million, his advisor Bobby Witt told MLB.com on Friday. Foltynewicz, the hard-throwing right-handed pitcher the Astros selected with the 19th overall pick Monday in the First-Year Player Draft, could be in Houston next week to sign the contract and begin his professional career.Foltynewicz, 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, sits in the low 90s mph with his fastball and has touched 96 with a good changeup. He's the first pitcher taken in the first round by the Astros since left-hander Brian Bogusevic in 2005, but Bogusevic has since been moved to the outfield.
Jett Bandy:
6-12-10 from: - http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/wait-til-next-year-2011-draft-preview - Catcher - Best Player: Jett Bandy, C/3B, Arizona, .354/.444/.538. By far the thinnest position of the draft class, I don’t think there is a college catcher that will be drafted on the first day. However, Bandy has an invitation to play for USA Baseball this summer, and if the 6-foot-4 slugger proves that he can stick behind the plate, he has a chance. Bandy threw out 24-of-67 runners this year, while hitting 23 doubles and posting a 10.3 K%.
