6-12-10:
-I updated the top 10 Mets prospect list that is on the right side of this first page. I added both SP Matt Harvey and C Blake Forsythe for two reasons… one, the best Mets prospects are already playing in Queens, and these two easily become part of the best the Mets have left in the system. I probably should have waited until they signed, but I’m sure that won’t be a problem. I did rank Forsythe ahead of Josh Thole because I believe he is hands down superior to Josh defensively and will probably offer the same kind of potential offense. Overnight, Harvey becomes the top SP prospect, unless Jenrry Mejia is returned to the role he should be playing.
-the Sand Gnats decided to remind some of us what this team was like a couple of years ago under Tim Teufel. They tanked it big time, 11-1, and starter SP Colin McHugh lasted only one inning, giving up eight earned runs. To show how good of a season he had been having up to this game, his ERA “soared” to 3.79. It’s become quite obvious that the Mets want this team to win the first half of the season pennant, because nobody is going nowhere on this team until this race is over. Tonight didn’t help at all.
-Fernando Martinez returned to Buffalo last night. The Bisons are having difficultly after losing multiple starts to the parent club. There was as little fanfair about his return to the upstate as there was for his rehabbing in Florida. No one basically coveres this guy anymore since every age excuse in the book has been used through his multiple slumps and countless injuries. First it was “hey, he’s still only 18-years old”, which has now grown into “hey, he’s only turning 22… The plan now seems to be to target the checkbook in the off season to the agent for Tampa Bay Rays CF Carl Crawford. If things go as hoped, Crawford will take over in CF with Jason Bay and Carlos Beltran on the corners. As for Martinez, he basically has no trade value until he plays a full season without an injury.
-Reese Havens was removed from the Binghamton game last night in the second inning for "soreness"... manager Tim Tuefel told a reporter that he's had this problem before, which makes one wonder if this is related to him oblique strain that kept him out earlier this season. Right now, he is listed day-to-day.

What's the rush with Jef Marte having to play at this level? Why isn't Jefry Marte assigned to Brooklyn, so he can develop his skills and then get moved up? It's not like he's too old.
no rush at all, but he does need to learn how to play defense... Marte is in Savannah because it is a very hispanic-friednly town... a second year there makes things much more comfortable for him
Ok, Savannah is a very Hispanic -friendly town...and Brooklyn isn't?????
