8/2/10

2011 DRAFT: - BreShon Kimble, Ryan Harris, Colton Murray, Phillip Pfeifer... and Marcus Stroman

BreShon Kimble:

7-29-10 from: - link  - BreShon Kimble has arm strength and bat speed, very raw however and runs better once underway. Still haven't seen that power displayed in a game, have seen a few during BP during TOS, but nothing else thus far. Very good build and strength. A bit stiff still, will keep an eye on him today.

Ryan Harris:

7-26 from: - link  - Here are some names of draft eligibles for 2011 who have not been mentioned much and are definitely on the radar for 2011 MLB scouting depts. - RHP - Ryan Harris, Jupiter HS, Fla, 6'1 1/2 185, very quick arm and deceptive fb, cb needs more development as does command, good upside.

Colton Murray:

7-27-10 from: - link  - RHP Colton Murray (Kansas)- He has been one of the best relievers in the Cape this summer with the Brewster Whitecaps as he is 0-1, including six saves, with a 0.59 ERA in 15.1 innings of work. He has held opponents to a batting average against of .185 while striking out 19 batters. Colton worked out of the bullpen for the Kansas Jayhawks in 2010, making 27 appearances with a 1-2 record and a 4.87 ERA.

Phillip Pfeifer:

7-28 from: - link  - Phillip Pfeifer put together his best performance of the summer in leading Team USA 18U to a 10-0 win over Chinese Taipei in pool play at the Junior World Championships in Thunder Bay, Canada on Monday. shutout for Team USA on Monday vs. Chinese Taipei.Pfeifer, a senior at Farragut next year, was the national junior player of the year by MaxPreps after going 16-0 and leading the Admirals to a Tennessee 3A state championship. Pfeifer had struggled a bit during his time with Team USA this summer in posting a team-high 3.14 ERA, albeit in three wins during the exhibition portion of the schedule leading up to the Junior Worlds. However he went the distance against Chinese Taipei, going seven innings in the shortened game (due to a 10-run rule) and giving up no runs on just two hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. The performance dropped his ERA to 2.11.

Marcus Stroman:

7-29 from: - RHP Marcus Stroman sat 93-96 with a hard slider. I've seen Marcus before for Duke. He's got a very good arm for a little guy, 5'9 180 also not a bad hitter, plays SS/2b/3b, will be utilized more next spring on the bump, was a closer this spring mostly, saw only 88-92 for him during the two outings I witnessed with sharp slide piece as you mentioned, he also had a change that has some deception on it when he doesn't slow his arm down. Throws strikes.
