Escogido Leones (15-14) 3-7 - Diory Hernandez is ripping the ball at a .337 pace, leading the Leones in runs scored with 19 and tied for the league lead in batting average. The oft injured Fernando Martinez has made his debut with Escogido going 1 for 3 with two RBIs. We’ll see how long he can stay healthy. Carlos Gomez had a 4 for 4 game with three runs scored to raise his average to .269. He’s always been able to play defense, but the bat has been invisible - MWOB
Stan The Man:
OF/1B - Cardinals • (1941-1963) - Age: 90 … Hall of Fame: 1969 - When Musial retired from baseball he held 29 National League records, 17 major-league records and nine All-Star Game records, and while many have been surpassed Musial's 22-year body of work has aged well. Until recently, Musial was the only player whose career totals ranked in the top 20 in all of the most significant offensive categories. It's the rare column on his baseball card that doesn't contain a season with a league lead. Batting average? Seven times. Runs scored? Six times. Slugging? Six times. Triples? Five times. Only one player has more MVPs than Musial's three, and few others can claim that their dominance on the field paled to their elegance of it. In a 2003 poll of living Hall of Famers, his peers named him "the greatest living hitter," and no less an expert than Ty Cobb once said Musial was as close to "perfect" as any ballplayer gets. That is a common and timeless description of The Man. - stltoday.

Also Murphy is said to be working hard at learning the position so that encouraging. I’m all for a Murphy/2B experiment. I have been for awhile. You have to remember that way back when before the god awful LF experience and before his more than satisfying 1B campaign, Murphy is a 3B at heart. He has some range and he can handle going to his left and his right. The scout did say he’s better going to his left which is expected since most 3B go to their left better than their right. He’s a work in progress and a work I’m intrigued about. I like the idea of Daniel Murphy as my 2011 2B. - stlucietoflushing.
1969 Mets:
Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, Gary Gentry, Nolan Ryan, Tug McGraw - Seaver was just 24 years old when the Miracle Mets won the World Series, but he won a career-best 25 games that year. And combined Jerry Koosman and rookie Gary Gentry won another 30. Nolan Ryan had yet to become an overpowering figure, but he was a great help out of the bullpen, as was future All-Star Tug McGraw. - bleacherreport.
Wilfredo Tovar:
11-24-10 from: - metsgeek - 18. Wilfredo Tovar. The Single greatest tool of any player in the Mets organization is the defensive ability Wilfredo Tovar possesses. He has a quick swing and can drive a ball occasionally despite his short stature. He’ll be 19 to start next season and should start the campaign with Savannah, where he appeared in 44 games last year. Best case scenario is a slick fielding, major league short stop. Worst case scenario sees him bouncing around the minor leagues as a glove you can plug in on any Double A roster.

Matt...I've seen several blogs which are reporting F Mart is hurt yet AGAIN..(bad knee) can you verify???
This is Mack. Matt;s the other intelligent Mets blogger... :)
Yes, he left after one game complaining about his knees. The key word here is "complaining".
The Mets are shutting him down from winter ball, and I'mm suggesting he takes up chess.
