In making the call on Collins, 61, the Mets didn't just select a manager. They have stated very clearly that they will have a course of action under Collins and general manager Sandy Alderson.
Knowing both veteran baseball men very well, the Mets, whether they put it into words or not, will run a professional and no-nonsense game plan.
The Mets will pay attention to every detail, because that is what both Collins and Alderson do as part of their daily routine.
