Twitter has literally blown up over the announcement that Terry Collins was named new Mets' Manager (okay, figuratively, not literally, but you get the gist!) Let's put this into perspective once again- no manager has won or lost a pennant for a team, the players do that. Casey Stengel and Joe Torre were "terrible managers" before they came to the Yankees. Terry Collins can win with a rotation that includes a healthy Johan, followed by Pelfrey, Greinke, Niese & Garland; Tony LaRussa (or John McGraw for that matter) doesn't win with a rotation of Pelfrey, Niese, Gee, Dickey & Misch. If the new regime fills out the roster with the likes of Gary Matthews Jr, Fernando Tatis, Alex Cora and Mike Jacobs, THEN I'd be ready to throw the towel in. But naming Collins manager (as much as I personally wanted Backman) is FAR from the worst thing that could have happened to the Mets this off-season (what - you want to rehire Randolph???)
At least the Mets are making SOME kind of noise in November for a change...

What I CAN'T believe is that some so-called "fans" are praying for Collins to fail so they can be "right" instead of hoping the Mets win under his watch. Once again the "lunatic fringe" being heard from...
