Omar Quintanilla was taken out of the game last night, replaced by Brian Bixler, after going 1-1. Quintanilla is now hitting .333 in Las Vegas. Could this mean that the plug has been pulled on Ruben Tejada, and that Omar will be at SS when the Mets take the field at Yankee Stadium tonight? I wouldn't be at all surprised.
Tejada's sloppy play in the field of late is an indication that his poor performance at the plate has gotten into his head and is affecting his whole game. He would benefit from a spell in the minors to clear things up and get back to the Tejada he was last year.

This should do it for Tejada...
FYI...
If this is true, Quint is out of options and would have to be DFAd before being sent back down.
Tejada isn't.
My guess is this will be a season long decision and you might see first round pick Gavin Cecchini surface on a full season team to start the eventual process of him taking over some day.
Past that, there are no shortstops in the system with the potential of succeeding at the major league level.
