Angel Cuan Named FSL Pitcher of the Week
PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA. — The Florida State League announced today that St. Lucie Mets lefthander Angel Cuan has been named the league’s Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 20-May 26.
Cuan pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out nine in a 1-0 victory over Bradenton on May 25.
Cuan has tossed 14 consecutive scoreless innings while allowing just five hits and striking out 15 over his last two starts.
Cuan, a 5-11, 150-pound lefthander from Chirqui, Panama, has a 5-1 record with a 3.69 ERA in eight appearances and six starts this season. He has recorded 33 strikeouts while walking just five in 39 innings.
The Mets signed Cuan in 2007 as a non-drafted free agent. Cuan finished 6-10 with a 4.01 ERA in 23 appearances in 2012 with St. Lucie
