Draft 13 – Last Minute Draft Dirt
-Oklahoma (40-19, 13-11) SP Jonathan Gray has just about locked up the first pick
overall after leading his team to a divisional championship. In game one, Gray
beat Baylor 2-0, going 9.0-IP, CG, 3-H, 0-R, 12-K, 1-BB.
-Indiana State (26-25, 9-11) SP Sean Manaea will most probably pass on signing a
contract this year and go back for his senior year. Things just haven’t worked
out well late for the lefty, who started out the season as a sure fire top five
pick. His latest ailment is tightness in his shoulder which prevented him from
pitching in his school’s MVC divisional games.
-Jim Callis of Baseball America held
their last mock before the draft and had Gray, Mark
Appel, and Kris Bryant as the top tier
players in the draft.
-Houston has narrowed their choice for first pick overall to Gray,
Appel, Bryant, Clint Frazier, and Colin Moran.
-Vanderbilt 2B Tony
Kemp was named SEC Player of the Year.
