OPEN THREAD - Mets Release P Jenrry Mejia
The New York Mets announced today (the last day left to place players on the 40-man squad) they have released P Jenrry Mejia.
This does not mean he couldn't be invited back and offered a minor league contract, but, on the surface, it seems like another closer loss for the Mets.

Big picture thought:
For a team that has such a poor bullpen for consecutive years, and an organization that lacks high level talent to fill the bullpen,
It seems questionable to get rid of any talented bullpen pieces.
Especially after just having his best performance since returning to the organization.
Puzzler indeed.
I have zero insider knowledge, but the release does seem a bit curious.
Like most things, there is likely more to the story and a logical reason for the release (I am trusting the new management, until they prove otherwise).
The Mets had to roll the 40 man dice here.
I am sure they expect him to come back but off the 40.
Why is anyone surprised that after Mejia looked good in his last outing the Mets would release him? Is the Mets we're talking about.
