B-Mets Game Notes

LAST GAME: After a two-day hiatus from the diamond, the BMets
appeared rusty tallying just three hits in Monday’s 4-1
loss to Reading. The Phillies put up three runs in the fifth
against starter Ryan Coultas and reliever Tim McNab to lead 3
-0. Kevin Nelson took McNab yard in the sixth to complete a 3-
3 day, finishing a triple short of the cycle, to make the score 4-
0. It appeared as though Binghamton was going to be shutout,
but a Carl Loadenthal RBI single in the ninth with two outs
scored D.J. Wabick from second to avoid the shutout. Reading
starter Mike Stutes took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before
having it broken up by a Mets’ pitcher, McNab. The B-Mets
have not been shutout since 8/21/08 versus New Hampshire,
a 2-0 loss.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Mike Antonini will make
his second start of the season tonight against Reading. In his
first start, Antonini pitched 4.2 innings in a no-decision at
Trenton on Opening Day, 4/8. He was an 18th round pick in
2007 by the Mets out of Georgia College & State University,
where he pitched against current B-Met starter Dylan Owen,
who played for Francis Marion University in the Peach Belt
Conference.

Antonini is opposed by RHP Tyson Brummett, who was Reading’s
Opening Day starter. Brummett threw six strong against
Harrisburg last Thursday giving up two runs in a no-decision.
Last season, Brummett was roughed up in 14 starts with
Reading, carrying a 7.28 ERA in 80.1 IP. He was a seventh
round pick of the Phillies in the 2007 draft out of UCLA.
