Thoughts On Backman, What About Carter?

With reports swirling about Wally Backman returning to the Mets organization,I felt like it is important to make a couple quick points. First off, about Backman- the guy has a problem. I few years ago Wally was a MLB manager for four days (AR). Today, he is a guy in need of another chance. Let's be honest- everyone has issues and on this day in 2009- the Mets organization need Backman as much as Wally needs to the Mets. The Mets need a pulse and Wally has always had that. Wally needs a chance to put the past behind him, now he gets that- at home!

It is also to the benefit of the Mets to continue to bring back as many players from the 86 team as possible. It has been 23 years since the Mets won a World Series. The players that won that series know how to win in New York, so having them in the minor leagues can only help. I would now like to see Gary Carter with HoJo on the major league roster as a coach.
