St. Lucie 14 - Dunedin 2

The St. Lucie offense had its best game of the season as the Mets crushed the Dunedin Blue Jays 14-2 on Saturday at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.

The 14 runs tied a season high. The Mets belted out 19 hits which is a new season high. Eight of the nine Mets in the order had multi-hit games.

Jeff McNeil led the way with a 4 for 6 performance. He scored four runs and fell a triple shy of the cycle. His first home run of the year, a solo shot in the fifth, put the Mets up 3-1.

Michael Conforto went 3 for 5 with his 11th double of the season and three RBIs.

Colton Plaia had two hits and drove in four runs. With the bases loaded in the eighth he plated everyone in with a double to put the Mets up 12-2.

Yeixon Ruiz, Matt Oberste, Dominic Smith, Miakis De La Cruz and Amed Rosario joined Plaia in the two-hit club.

The game was close through five innings. An RBI single by Roemon Fields off of Kevin McGowan in the fifth cut the Mets’ lead to 3-2.

That changed in the sixth when the Mets scored three runs on hits by Rosario, Plaia and Ruiz.

The Mets blew the game wide open with six runs on four hits in the eighth. Brady Dragmire walked Champ Stuart and Ruiz to start the frame then gave up RBI hits to Conforto and Smith. After De La Cruz hit an RBI sac fly, Dragmire walked Rosario to reload the bases.

Carlos Ramirez inherited the bases load jam and gave up the three-run double to Plaia.

Conforto and Smith added RBI doubles in the ninth off Ramirez.

Mets starter Kevin McGowan improved to 3-3 and earned his second win in a row. He gave up five hits and two runs in five innings while walking three and striking out five.

Jays starter Luis Santos took the loss. He gave up five runs in 5.1 innings. Dragmire allowed six runs while getting only two outs. Team press release
