Sunday Afternoon at Citi Field, The Mets trailing 8-3 in the
top of the 4th staged their biggest comeback of the year as they hit
4 home runs and rally to beat the Braves 10-8. Dillon Gee started for the Mets and it was clear from the get go he didn’t have it. He allowed 11 hits in 3 2/3 and 8 earned runs as the Braves looked like they were steaming to an easy win. But that woke up the Mets bench. In the bottom of the 4th the Mets climbed to within 8-5 as Darrell Ceciliani and Dilson Herrera both
clubbed solo homers. For Ceciliani his 1st career blast for Herrera
his 2nd on the year. In the 5th
Travis d’Arnaud continued his welcome back tour with a two run shot, his 3rd
on the year and it was 8-7. In the 6th
Michael Cuddyer hit a pitch single, Curtis Granderson got his 3rd
hit on the day and Juan Lagares hit a 3 run homer, his 3rd on the
year as the Mets took a 10-8 lead. The Mets pounded out 14 hits on the day. Granderson went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored,
Lagares had 3 hits and the 3 RBI, Lucas Duda went 2 for 4 and Wilmer Flores had
a 2 run single in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Gee’s complete line was 3 2/3 11 hits 8 runs
(all earned)1 walk and 4 k’s. After Gee,
Alex Torres, Sean Gilmartin, Bobby Parnell, Hansel Robles all pitched scoreless
relief. Gilmartin pitched 2 scoreless and gets the win he’s now 1-0. New Papa
Jeurys Familia came on in the 8th inning and pitched the 4 out save.
His 19th on the year. Luis
Avilan took the loss for Atlanta he’s now 2-2-.
Jace Peterson went 3 for 3 with a homer and 3 RBI, Kelly Johnson went 3
for 3 and 2 RBI for the Braves in the loss. With the win the Mets improve to 34-30 on the
year and 24-11 at Citi Field as they take 2 out of 3 from Atlanta. The Nats are
winning in Milwaukee so worst case scenario the Mets stay ½ game in first in
the NL east. Monday, the Powerful
Toronto Blue Jays come to town for an inter-league match up. Noah Syndergaard
(2-4 4.15) faces the team that dealt him.
Lefty Mark Buehrle (7-4 4.25) goes for Toronto.

The Mets players just gave Dillon Gee a very big and very loud:
F-You
Agreed! Too much pitching depth to run his story ass out ther anymore. On a side note, this takes some of the sting out of yesterday's debacle.
Only Bob Gregory could put a negative on the best victory of the season.
What are you talking about Mack??!!
There is nothing more positive than the team coming together and showing Gee that what he did was not acceptable.
How in any way was what I posted Met-negative????
It was definitely Gee-negative.
But I suspect the rest of the team question whether they should include Mr. Gee among their definition of team family.
Today's Lagares homerun was brought to you by the makers of Haterade. For that deep down body F U to those who didn't like his OPS, SLG, ABC , 123 or whatever ;)
Juan and done. Did not see this wonderful revival meeting of a game, but did hear that Ceciliani almost had a 2nd homer. Maybe he's the one to be our sub OF after all.
