Thursday Afternoon in Milwaukee, Jacob deGrom continued his
pattern of dominance; the Mets snap their 7 game losing streak with a 2-0 win
at Miller Park. deGrom and Brewer
starter Taylor Jungmann pitched to a scoreless tie through 5 complete. In the 6th
the Mets got to Jungmann’s relief Michael Blazek when Wilmer Flores double down
the left field line scored Michael Cuddyer. In the 7th Lucas Duda’s grounder ricocheted off lefty Will Smith to
score deGrom with the 2nd run and it was 2-0. deGrom had his best outing
of the year going 8 innings allowing just 4 hits while striking out 7. He gets
the win improving to 8-5 while dropping his era to 2.15. Jeurys Familia pitched
the 9th for this 20th save. Blazek takes the loss, he’s now 4-2. The Mets
amassed 10 hits on the day, Granderson led the way going 3 for 5. Terry Collins was ejected from the game in the 4th inning. With the win
the Mets end their 7 game slide as they go 1-7 on this road trip. They are
11-26 on the road and overall are back at .500 at 37-37. Friday night it’s back
home to the friendly confines of Citi Field.
Noah Syndergaard (2-4 4.03) goes for the Mets, Johnny Cueto (4-4 2.98)
goes for Cincinnati.
