Great minor leagues YouTube series, which I think would be worth watching. Also, Marco Scudero is another one who got away. Lastly for all of the prognostications about free agent signings, please remember that other teamsAbsorbed crushing losses this year, while deep pockets Steve Cohen didn’t. I’m taking a wait-and-see approach to what he does. I think he will be a lot more aggressive than many people think. He knows that no one in New York likes a loser.

Mack:

I could live with the Mets in the Meadowlands, either temporarily or permanently in a new stadium (and I live on L.I.).

The Nassau County stadium may be tough to do, as the Islanders arena pretty much got the last spot in the county for a new arena. You'd have to convince Nassau to take down the Coliseum for a stadium, after renovating it less than five years ago. The locals in the area would not be keen on a 40,000+ stadium in their neighborhood either.

Blunderers, yes the blunderers, they get around, around, around.

It is so incredibly hard to project younger players out over the course of their careers. Sometimes almost impossible.

Take (for instance) the phenomenal 26 year old Mets reliever Edwin Diaz this year. Holy macaroni man. Twice as many strikeouts than inning pitched, a 1.75 ERA which was like 1.43 points lower than his career average ERA with three teams. A career 8-22 won/loss record versus being 2-1 in the abbreviated 2020 Mets season.

I venture to say here that both his prior two teams (Nationals and Rays) are really kicking themselves in the sitter right now after Edwin's 2020. GM Brodie VW did very well here. He gets my kudos!

Of the grouping mentioned today (Murph, Robles, d'Arnaud, and Turner) Justin Turner hurts the most I think. I didn't see him being like he's been either. Daniel Murphy has suffered fairly serious leg injuries now and it has slowed him down some. Robles lacked one key thing, consistency. But maybe he can do the Diaz thing? Travis ditto at the plate, sort of hot and cold, but what a marvelous 2020 playoff experience for him and his fans. Wow.

On Cohen Moves

Has to get by the Mayor first I guess.

I am hoping that Steve Cohen brings "a different approach" to team and organization building based more on great scouting and drafting, with less on filling holes with veteran players.

I think that he will actually.

DeBlasio signed off, so the Jersey Mets are a mute point.
