Crow-Armstrong is a ‘strong pick’ and the best defensive centerfielder in the draft. He has a much better range, speed, and arm in the outfield than Juan Lagares and has the potential of winning 5-10 Gold Gloves over his career.

He also has more speed on the bases than Brandon Nimmo.

I see him as Mets leadoff hitter for 5+ years beginning 2024.

Baseball America:

The first thing people tend to point to with the Mets' 2020 first-round pick is his defense. There's strong consensus on that aspect of Crow-Armstrong's game. He has the athleticism, speed, instincts, range and arm to be a plus defender in center field. As much as Crow-Armstrong's defense is impressive, what also stands out is his hitting ability. He has a fairly simple lefty stroke, good contact skills with the ability to square up fastballs and offspeed stuff to all fields and a good plan at the plate for his age.

Keith Law of The Athletic ranked Pete Crow-Armstrong # 94 (#4 Mets Prospect) in his top 100 MLB Prospect list and added this: "Crow-Armstrong is a future 70 defender in center with a plus arm and a 60 runner with good instincts on the bases. At the plate, he has good feel to hit with bat speed, although his front side can go soft and he’s shown more swing and miss, including at showcase events, than you want from a player of this profile. He also has faced better pitching in his amateur career than most high school kids, which could be skewing that last variable. He has a high floor because of his glove and speed; if he firms up that front side, he could also become a great leadoff hitter with high averages and OBPs to go with the plus defense."

MLB.com had Pete as the #5 Mets Prospect.

Pete was recently invited to the Mets 2021 MLB Spring Training Camp.

I personally hope that Pete starts in Low A in 2021 and makes it to High A by the end of the year with the chance to go to Double-A in 2022, possibly Triple-A and later in Flushing in 2023.
