It takes some people longer to psychologically recover from traumas than others.
Some, for instance, have been fully vaccinated but remain maskers. They can't shake the trauma and want to be safe, despite bottoming transmission rates generally and full vaccination of many and sudden CDC reversal on masks.
Other folks have no such residual concerns.
"Trauma? Nah! Today's a new day. SWEET!"
That lingering trauma thing is sort of like what goes on for some fans regarding SUGAR Edwin Diaz.
A whole lot of hate arose for Sir Edwin the Great due to his "pandemic-like pitching year of 2019". Many fans were traumatized and sickened as he blew quite a few games and saves that year, some in spectacular fashion.
He then gave up a very early season critical HR to Mashing Marcel Ozuna in 2020 and the haters were more convinced that their hate was justified, and Edwin had to be expelled.
They sought a quick antidote. "GET RID OF HIM!!!", they exclaimed.
Except for one thing:
REALITY SET IN.
Let's unmask the truth here.
THE REALITY IS:
HE’S GREAT!
Edwin is 3-2 over 2020 and 2021, and has saved 11 straight since the second half of COVID-shortened 2020.
In 2020 and 2021, he's had 43 innings in 43 outings, 71 Ks, and an ERA not too far above 2.00. And, please remember, the 9th inning is the toughest inning to pitch in baseball.
Just ask Jacob Barnes from Wednesday night. He got “Acuna’d.” Barnsie was awesome in the 8th - but the 9th...?
After Diaz allowed that early 2020 HR to the man who had 56 rabbis in 60 games in 2021, he has allowed just one measly, stinking HR since.
So do yourself a favor, if you find you still distrust or hate Edwin, take off your hate/distrust mask. It hasn’t been needed for a long time.
Don’t social-distance from the TV when he pitches.
Breathe in some exhilarating Edwin Diaz breezes.
You know, the ones resulting from that 101 MPH fastball.
His strikeouts are frankly contagious...in a good way.
Enjoy Sugar. The kind that's not fattening. The Edwin Diaz kind.

He's darned good now.

So get over it....and (why not?) try to...you know...Rejoice.

On Thursday, Binghamton Mayor Rich David announced efforts to develop a Stadium District Master Plan (SDMP) for the city.
The city has created an online survey to gather community input on the plan.
The survey asks people to give their input on current destinations with the stadium district and potential improvements. This includes additions or changes that would increase how often they visit the area.

Binghamton officials said the SDMP will guide development and public investments near the stadium at 211 Henry St. with a goal of "spurring transformative projects in housing, infrastructure and economic development in the district."
Officials say the survey is the first of several other public outreach efforts as part of the planning process.
Binghamton hired Whitham Planning & Design from Ithaca, N.Y. to prepare the plan. The plan is expected to be complete in December 2021. The cost of the plan is $100,000 and is supported by an Empire State Development grant of $50,000.
A lot of the Diaz-hate stems from the loss of the kid we traded away to get him. The haters forget that he's still in his mid-20s and should have 10+ years ahead of him as long as he can stay healthy (as he has so far, unlike half of his teammates).
Where does the nickname "sugar" come from? This is the first time that I have heard it.
