MLB recently announced that three Met favorites will be on the ballot for the Hall of Fame.
David Wright was a seven-time all-star who is among the greatest to play the game in a Mets uniform. His lifetime slash line was .296/.376/.491. He holds a lifetime WAR of 49.2 and was a 2 time gold glove and 2 time silver slugger. He holds Mets records for many categories, including hits, walks, HBP, total bases, and RBI.
Jose Reyes was a four-time all-star with a NL batting title and was also a sliver slugger award winner. His lifetime WAR was 37.4. Among the most exciting Mets players to watch, Reyes holds Mets records for stolen bases, triples, and lead-off home runs.
Bartolo Colon earned most of his significant baseball accomplishments with other teams, but very quickly became a fan favorite with the Mets and recorded one of the all-time great Mets highlights when the comically-light hitting pitcher hit a home run on May 7, 2016 against another pitcher on the ballot, the Padres' James Shields. "Big Sexy" finished his career with a 247-188 record, a 4.12 ERA, and 2,535 strikeouts. Colon's 247 wins are the most among Latin American-born pitchers
It is tough to get in to the Hall Of Fame, and the two former Mets will be vying for the writers' votes with other very accomplished players. Also newly on the ballot are players Adrian Beltré, Joe Mauer, Chase Utley, Matt Holliday, Adrián González, José Bautista, Brandon Phillips, Victor Martinez, and James Shields.
How many ballots do you think it will take to get Wright, Reyes, and Colon in?

I think none will get in, except maybe for Bart. Wright is very comparable to Mattingly, who never made it. Reyes was hurt too much, then faded after age 34. Bart’s 247? And loved personality? Maybe, but his ERA hurts him.
I love David but sadly, I don't think Amy of these three have the creds to get in
Tom,
Off the above subject, but one that is also relevant, the Mets are reported to be signing Vladi Miguel Guerrrero during the upcoming International signing period January 15,2024.
Vladi is the younger brother of Vladimir Guerrero who plays for the Blue Jays.
Sounds like an excellent signing if he plays as well as his brother or his father.
D J, keep in mind the Mets signed Greg Guerrero to a $1 million + contract, and he was a complete bust. 774 ABs in DSL and low minors, and a low powered .227, and a free agent who certainly seems done.
Interesting current Guerrero signing target…as long as he is one of the great Guerreros, and not the next Greg.
It is always a good time to buy genes.
And back on the above subject, David Wright is one of my all-time favorite Mets. If not for injury he would have had HOF credentials. Unfortunately with less than 2000 hits, only 242 career HRs and a career batting average under .300 he does not have the resume to get in. And he has the best WAR of the bunch.
Still glad he is on the ballot, and maybe one day his number will be hoisted above Citi Field.
Wright and Reyes, great players. How did their FA contracts work out? Long term deals for stars past their prime often don’t work out even in the first two seasons. Maybe better off signing 2nd tier FAs to 2-3 year deals.
It’s getting hot, hotter, don’t touch that stove, here comes Severino! Giolito,Hicks,Robertson, Gallo,Taylor on the way? Hot,hotter.
Severino today,Domingo German tomorrow?
Lynn,Gibson or Severino?
Severino and Wensleydale,who’s next?
