LAST GAME: The B-Met bullpen fired 3.2 innings of no-hit
relief to quiet the potent Portland offense and Lucas Duda
and Shawn Bowman blasted solo home runs to lead Binghamton
to a 4-2 win over the Sea Dogs. The two teams split the
four-game series. Ryan Coultas made the start for the B-Mets
throwing 5.1 innings giving up two runs in a no-decision. Bowman
went 2-4 scoring two of the four runs and Duda went 2-3
with a walk. Adam Bostick was credited with the win for the
second time in the series, lasting an 1.2 in relief of Coultas.
Roy Merritt notched his fifth save of the season retiring the
final five Portland hitters in order.
STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Mike Antonini will get the
call for Binghamton. Antonini is coming off a strong outing
against Reading 4/15 in which he struck out eight over five
scoreless innings to pick up the win. The eight strikeouts tied
a career-high. He has struck out eight men in three games
over his three-year career in the Mets system. Antonini was an
18th round pick of the Mets out of Georgia College & State
University in 2007.
RHP Eric Hacker was Trenton’s Opening Day starter against
the B-Mets, throwing 5.1 innings giving up a run. For the season,
Hacker is 1-0 on the season with a 1.59 ERA. His last
start came 4/15 against Harrisburg going six innings surrendering
one run. Hacker was a 23rd round pick in the 2002
draft out of Duncanville HS (TX). He has missed two years of
his career due to injury, 2004 and 2006, with Tommy John
and right shoulder surgery, respectively.
WACKY WABICK: B-Met outfielder D.J. Wabick is off to a slow
start hitting .154 (4-26) in seven games . However, he picks
his times well. All four of his hits have come with runners on
base and each of his hits as yielded an RBI. He’s hitting .364
(4-11) with runners in scoring position.
