TODAY’S GAME:

Today, the Buffalo Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking to bounce back from last night’s 4-0 loss to the Chiefs. The Bisons are 0-4 so far against Syracuse this season after the Chiefs swept a rain-shortened three-game series, April 17-20 at Alliance Bank Stadium.

STARTING STRONG:

The Bisons starters have not allowed more than three runs in their last three efforts. RHP Dillon Gee began the stretch when he worked into the sixth inning in Tuesday’s win in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. RHP Freddy Garcia delivered a quality start a day later when he held the Yankees to three runs on five hits in six innings of work. Last night, RHP Brandon Knight allowed just three runs in seven innings for another quality start.

F-MART:

OF Fernando Martinez still tops all International League hitters with his eight doubles on the season. He is now 2nd in the IL in extra-base hits with 10, one behind Indianapolis’ OF Andrew McCutchen. Martinez has hit in eight of his last 10 games with the Bisons, averaging .302 (13-43).

GLOVE WORK:

The Bisons outfielders showed off their arms last night. OF Cory Sullivan and OF Jesus Feliciano both had outfield assists in Friday’s loss. Bisons also turned their International League-leading 17th double play of the season. As a team, the Bisons are sixth in the league with a .979 fielding percentage.
