The B-Mets overcame a 3-0 deficit after four and
a half innings to beat Trenton 4-3 yesterday and sweep the
two-game set. Binghamton scored four unanswered runs in
the middle innings and lefties Edgar Alfonzo and Roy Merritt
made the slim one-run lead stand up to secure the win. Alfonzo
worked 1.1 innings to pick up the win in his first outing
of the season. Merritt worked a season-high two innings to
notch his league-leading sixth save. Carl Loadenthal was an
offensive bright spot for the Mets, going 1-2 with an RBI triple
and scored two of the four runs. Josh Petersen drove in the go
-ahead run with a single to right in the seventh innings scoring

time out, Sanchez was roughed up for nine runs in three innings
in a loss at home against Portland. Sanchez carries a 1-
1 record and a 12.00 ERA entering tonight’s contest. In 2008,
Sanchez went 2-0 against the Fisher Cats throwing 15 shutout
innings striking out 16 over 2 starts. Sanchez led the B-Mets
with 13 wins in 2008 and carried a 3.83 ERA in 152.2 innings
for the season. He has proved to be a durable starter in his
career, averaging over 146 innings per season the last four
years.

LHP Marc Rzepczynski will make his fourth start of the season
tonight for New Hampshire. In his last outing, Rzepczynski
went six strong innings to pick up a win at New Britain. He
gave up two runs on four hits in the outing, striking out eight.
He enters the start with a 2-1 record and a 5.14 ERA.
Rzepczynski went 7-6 in 22 starts with Lansing (Low-A) last
season, totaling 121 innings with 124 strikeouts. He was
Toronto’s fifth round pick in 2007 from the Univ. of California.
DIAMOND DEFENDERS:
Binghamton is fielding .981 through
11 games, good for fourth best in the Eastern League. The BMets
have gone 28 straight innings without committing an
error, including three consecutive games, all wins. The infield
defense has been fantastic beginning with the double play
combo of 19-year old SS Ruben Tejada and 22-year-old 2B
Matt Bouchard.

bullpen has chewed up 49.1 innings, or about 4.2 innings per
game. With a stout 2.01 ERA, they have been lead by closer
Roy Merritt who is tied for the Eastern League lead in saves
with six and has yet to give up a run in 8.1 innings. Merritt has
only allowed three hits and is perfect in six save opportunities
