It's great to see the Giants win, for a whole lot of reasons:
.) If you compare line-ups, the 2011 Mets projected line-up far exceeds the Giants 2010 line-up.
.) This 2010 Giants' team reminds me of the '69 Mets - a bunch of role players in the line-up stepping up when little was expected of them; a young pitcher taking control amidst a sea of great young pitching talent (Koosman/Lincecum); and a team that truly surprised everyone by simply being in the Series in the first place.
.) It's always great to see a team that's built on pitching win it all! It's even GREATER knowing that the did it WITHOUT BARRY BONDS!!!
.) Having been to AT&T/Pac Bell many times since it's opened, and having said multiple times that it's my favorite ballpark, it will be that much sweeter when going to games next season to be watching them in the World Series winners' ballpark.
.) After losing Bonds, GM Sabean stayed the course amidst a less-than-excited fan-base, until his plan for pitching, pitching, and more pitching came through!! Shows what playing to your ballpark and building around quality young pitching can do for a team!!
.) Last, and not least, my late father began rooting for the Giants back in 1935, so seeing them win, regardless of where they are playing, is something that I know would make my dad smile. And that, after all, is the best part of this game in the first place...
