The 2011 38th round draft pick out of UC Riverside is 2-0 with a 3.76 ERA. He still has work to do getting more swings and misses since he has allowed 34 Hits and a .309 opponents BA against, but he has only allowed 2 dingers. His K/BB ratio stands at 16/6.

It was his 2nd year in the organization

8-25-11: - http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ycn-9021595  - Jason Bay - The disappearance of Bay is well documented and continues to rank as one of the most profound mysteries of contemporary baseball. For years, Bay was a productive, powerful hitter. He's been a regular since 2004, and during that fruitful time, he has 200 career home runs…but only 15 since joining the Mets. Worse, he's hitting .233. When Ruben Tejada's out-hitting you by 40-plus points, you've got a problem.

"It just seems like this year has become more of one where front-office people are talking about what happens on waivers," (David) Wright said, as quoted in Newsday. "I'm sure that I've been put on waivers before. I'm sure that I've been claimed, so I just think it's part of the process. But this is the first year I can remember it being somewhat of an issue. I don't really remember so many players, kind of the cat getting out of the bag, and who claimed them and this and that. But I guess that's the direction it's going. It doesn't affect me one way or another. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it or think twice about being put on waivers." - http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/33154/mets-morning-briefing-8-27-11

Much of what they do in this offseason will be tied to whether (Jose) Reyes remains with the team. Alderson, like a year ago, doesn't feel compelled to make a splashy move. "We want to improve the team, but that's separate from creating buzz," Alderson said. "To some extent, they go hand-in-hand. We'll look at free agents, but we're not going into it feeling like we have to do something big just for the sake of it." http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/reyes_ing_hopes_uNmPBECsDt7Vqac5whNP0K#ixzz1WKMerkNa
