TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the second game of a three-game series at Coca-Cola Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd earned the 5-1 win in last night’s series opener. Buffalo is now 3-1 on their current six-game roadtrip. The Bisons are 5-2 in their last seven contests.

vs. IRONPIGS: The Bisons are 3-2 against the IronPigs this season. The clubs split a four-game set at Coca-Cola Field last week, April 16-19. With a win tonight, the Bisons can clinch only their second series win in Lehigh Valley. The only previous set Buffalo has ever won at Coca-Cola Park was a two-game set, August 9-10, 2010 (8-1, 6-0).

OLE!: LHPGARRETT OLSON gets the ball for his fourth start of the season. The southpaw delivered a quality start last Thursday against the IronPigs. Olson allowed just two runs in six innings of work in a no-decision. He struck out a season-high five in that outing. On the season, opponents are hitting just .237 with one home run in 59 at-bats against Olson.

STARTING STRONG: In the last seven starts, the Bisons rotation has combined to go 4-1 with a 1.94ERA and five quality starts. In the last week, Buffalo starters have allowed just 29 hits and struck out 33 in 41.2 innings of work. On the season, Bisons starters have posted a 3.58ERA.

HISTORIC HOMER: Last night, RHPDYLAN OWEN became the first Bisons’ pitcher to hit a home run since RHP JOHN HOPE on August 6, 1994 against Indianapolis. The 1994 season was the Herd’s final year affiliated with Pittsburgh. It was Owen’s first professional home run and third career RBI. Owen hit an RBI-single with the Bisons on June 15, 2010 vs. Lehigh Valley.

ROSTER MOVES: RHPJEREMY HEFNER was recalled yesterday and made his major league debut with three shutout innings of relief in the first game of the Mets’ doubleheader. Before game two, he was optioned back to Buffalo as INFJORDANY VALDESPIN was recalled. LHP JOSH EDGIN joined the Herd from Binghamton (AA) and earned the win in his Triple-A debut last night (1.1IP, H, 3K). CJEAN LUC BLAQUIERE was also activated.

METS UPDATE: The Mets (8-8) are at the .500 mark after being swept in a doubleheader by the Giants on Monday. San Francisco picked up wins of 6-1 and 7-2. Former Bisons OF KIRK NIEUWENHUIS had three hits in the two games combined. Tonight is the long-awaited return of Jose Reyes as the Mets host the Marlins at 7:10 p.m.
