1. Tyler Soderstrom CA Turlock
PG - Tyler Soderstrom is a 2020 C/3B/OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from
Turlock, CA who attends Turlock. Athletic build with good present strength and
room for more. Left handed hitter, hits from a spread slightly open stance with
a deep hand load, gets his lower half involved well, has strong and quick hands
and creates bat speed, swings with intent, line drive swing plane with some
lift out front, ball comes off the barrel hard, high contact swing with bat
speed, plus hitter for a catcher and left handed, too. 6.86 runner, has
athletic actions behind the plate and moves well side to side, tends to stand
up to throw but has a quick exchange and release, solid arm strength. Well
rounded all around catcher whose offensive potential stands out at the
position. Father, Steve, was the sixth pick in the 1993 draft and pitched in
the big leagues
2. Drew Romo TX The Woodlands
PG - Drew Romo is a 2020 C with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from The Woodlands, TX

stronger. Very advanced catching skills and tools, game actions in drills,
stays low and compact extremely well, polished footwork, big arm strength, puts
the ball on the bag, consistent 1.76-1.80 in drills and 1.94-1.98 in games.
Switch hitter, more natural and comfortable left handed but continues to make
strides right handed. Has a clean shift left handed with good hip torque to generate
bat speed with little tension or effort, stays compact and smooth, mid field to
pull side contact, same easy swing mechanics right handed, consistently on time
without quite the strength he has from the left side. Rare high school catcher
who will get serious first round consideration if everything continues to
progress over the next year.

good athlete for a catcher. Gets low and stays low and compact behind the
plate, sound fundamentals that he repeats very well, game actions in drills,
quick release on his throws, makes accurate throws and throws out runners. Can
likely play numerous other positions as well as catcher. Right handed hitter,
hits from a slightly open stance, fires his lower half hard and generates lots
of bat speed and barrel whip, has lift in his swing, shorter inside swing path
can cost him separation at times but strong enough to overpower the ball. Has
always performed at a very high level in Perfect Game events, MVP of the 2018
WWBA World Championships
5. Daniel Susac CA Jesuit

7.06 runner, athletic for his size behind the plate, outstanding raw arm
strength, one of the rare catchers who is better throwing from his knees than
coming out of his crouch, feet and hands are quick enough to stay behind the
plate despite his size. Right handed hitter, hits from a crouched stance with a
big leg lift trigger that can cause him some timing problems, pull approach
with the ability to lift the ball, strength in his wrists, big exit velocity
numbers, long overall approach but can drive the ball when everything is on
time. Classic Power/Power tools on a catcher. Brother Andrew is a big league
catcher and former PG All-American.
6. Jack Bulger MD DeMatha
PG - Jack Bulger is a 2020 C/RHP/3B with a 6-0 205 lb. frame from Bowie, MD

physically, especially strong lower half. 6.79 runner, is very quick behind the
plate, stays low and flexible in his set up, gets rid of the ball very quickly
with plus arm strength, very clean overall actions, definitely has the physical
tools to stay behind the plate defensively. Right handed hitter, rotational
hitter with good use of his strong hips, line drive swing plane with a bit of
lift out front, makes loud and hard contact with excellent exit velocity
speeds, works the middle of the field and repeats his mechanics and timing
well. Well rounded tool set for a catcher.
7. Carlos Perez FL Brito

who attends Florida Christian. Big and strong athletic build with room to get
stronger. 6.95 runner, has a compact arm action with a high release, gets rid
of the ball quickly, repeats his mechanics and footwork well, can be too
anxious with the glove receiving the ball at times, pretty polished
defensively. Right handed hitter, hits from a narrow base with a good lower
half shift to contact, has quick hands, good lift in his swing and really
projects power, gets the ball in the air to the middle of the field.

Mac, I may be an outlier here but I cannot get my head around the MLB draft on December. I know it's important research you're doing (to be amended by the 2020 college & HS seasons I presume).
Would it be possible to park links to these "Top..." columns in a sidebar? They will be invaluable to I'm sure all of us in some sequence.
Hobie
I appreciate your thoughts.
I'm well known for my research and posting on the draft. It's always done on Sunday.
I am the Sunday poster here and always feature another post on the Mets (this week ran at 8am
I will table the draft info for awhile if the majority wants it done.
No, no. Keep it up.
I'm only suggesting a quick way to reference these columns as the draft becomes relevant to us on our personal (if quirky) timetable.

Tried to figure out how to put up a sidebar with specific multiple links and the site just won't let me. Old site.
Sorry.
Hopefully Francisco Alvarez will make drafting high for a catcher unnecessary
