Sure.
But even in 1986, the Mets managed to lose 59 times.

Guys can go bad ... Hansel Robles has allowed 17 runs in 11 AIP this year.
Meanwhile Montearo has 7 saves in 9 games.
Something no one has made a comment on, as far as I can see, is the "two Edwin Diazes" phenomenon.
Coming into a game in a hurry, entering in the 7th or 8th of withmen on base, he has been awful.
Used in his usual role,entering at the start of an inning, usually the 9th, he has been the guy we traded for.
Using him (almost) exclusively in the latter role, we do indeed have the closer we traded for, the one with more saves for Seattle in 2018 than any Mets RP has EVER had.

Relief pitchers are too hot and cold from season to season. For my money, I may be interested for a RP as a FA. Someone who has established himself over a few seasons.. but to give up a number of top tier minor leaguers in a trade seems to never pan out..
Anonymous, I just think how many minors relievers have been brought up and traded for by the Mets. So few are really capable. Most don’t make it, and the guys who do may combine to go 1-21 like Sewald and Bashlor.
Maybe Gilliam will be good...but they haven’t called him up, so Who knows...seeing is believing.
