#60        Dallas Macias      OF, Oregon State

21/years old      5' 11"      196

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 45 | Field: 45 | Overall: 50

Colorado’s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2022 as a standout at Regis Jesuit High School, Macias headed to the Pacific Northwest for college ball at Oregon State. He played sparingly in his freshman year, but after hitting well in the West Coast League, he was an all-Pac-12 honorable mention as a sophomore with a .315/.389/.512 line, then continued to swing the bat fairly well in the Cape Cod League and this past fall back on campus.

A left-handed hitter, Macias can do a number of things fairly well, even if he doesn’t have any plus tools that jump off the page. He’s an aggressive hitter who has very professional at-bats and makes a lot of contact. Macias rarely strikes out, but he also doesn’t draw a ton of walks. While he was productive for the Beavers with out-of-zone contact a year ago, he’ll have to tighten things up in terms of swing decisions. His extra-base production took a nice step forward last year, but not all evaluators are convinced there’s enough impact here, though some thought he took a step forward in that department this fall.

Macias does run well and has shown the ability to play all three outfield positions. A team that thinks there’s enough thump at the bat and believes he can play center field could take him pretty early on as a performer at a top college program, though there are some who feel he has more of a fourth outfielder feel at present.

45. Dallas Macias – OF

HT/WT: 6’0/203 | Bat/Throw: L/R | School: Oregon State | Age: 21.8

Macias was highly regarded as a prep out of Regis Jesuit in Colorado, and while his freshmen campaign left more to be desired, the former switch-hitter improved drastically in a larger role for the Beavers this spring. Macias added a good amount of weight and began to tap into more pull-side juice, primarily from the left side of the plate.

The right side of the plate features a swing that’s more adjustable and hitterish, posting healthy contact rates. He will be strictly batting from the left side in 2025. There’s more bat speed and lift from the left side presently, though he’s got some warts with change-ups from this side.

Macias loves hammering fastballs, but the contact quality against off-speed pitches has yet to be consistent.

There’s very little swing-and-miss nonetheless and while the chase rate is on the higher side, it’s not overly egregious. He posted an 86% contact rate and a chase rate under 25% on the Cape this past summer. In the field, Macias has played all three outfield positions, though his average speed and arm likely relegate him to a left-field role moving forward.

OF Dallas Macias - Oregon State

Prospects Live Ranking: #55

Macias has transformed his profile since arriving at Oregon State, adding significant strength and bat speed to go along with his already impressive hit tool. Initially seen as more of a table-setter, he now boasts solid average raw power, especially from the left side, though his swing is more adjustable from the right. While Macias excels at making contact, his quality of contact against off-speed pitches, particularly from the left side, remains inconsistent, though he handles fastballs with ease. As a switch-hitter, he showcases versatility at the plate with an 86% contact rate and a chase rate below 25% during his time on the Cape. Defensively, Macias has experience across all outfield spots and has even played second and third base in spurts, but his average speed and arm strength suggest a future in left field. With his improved power and consistent contact ability, Macias is shaping up as a potential day-one pick in the 2025 draft.
