#57       Daniel Pierce         SS, Mill Creek (GA)

18/years old        6' 1"        180

COMMITTED  -  Georgia

Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50

Mill Creek HS (Hoschton, Ga.) has promoted Paul Pierce from assistant to head coach, and his son will be his best player in his first season. Daniel fits the classic coach's son profile as a scrappy grinder who provides constant energy and gets the most out of his tools. He's not short on physical ability, either, and could fit in the first two rounds.

Pierce has a mature approach at the plate and focuses on making contact to all fields with his quick right-handed stroke. He has a history of producing against quality pitching in high school and on the showcase circuit, controlling the strike zone and not trying to swing for the fences. He has average raw power and should develop into a 12-15 homer threat as he continues to add muscle.

Pierce has plus speed and the instincts to make the most of his quickness on the bases and in the field. The Georgia recruit has nice actions at shortstop, range to both sides and solid arm strength. Scouts love his makeup and note that he keeps getting stronger, faster and rising up Draft boards.

35. Daniel Pierce – SS

HT/WT: 6’1/180 | Bat/Throw: R/R | School: Mill Creek (GA) | Commitment: Georgia | Age: 18.11

Pierce is a wiry infield prospect who has been renowned for his defensive prowess over the years, but his bat is beginning to turn a corner. It’s a loud setup and load at the dish, featuring a ton of moving parts, but there’s a ton of twitch in his profile and his hips fire explosively at foot strike.

For now, he’s a hit-over-power bat with little swing-and-miss to his game. Pierce possesses barrel manipulation skills and his ability to separate and generate bat speed has allowed the power to trend upwards over the past calendar year.

He’s a legitimate speed threat, too, as he’s posted consistent plus run times and popped some double-plus times, as well. The bounce translates to the dirt, where he’s a quality defender with impressive range, instincts, and loud arm strength across the diamond.

He’s a reliable glove that makes the tough plays look easy, plus he’s flashed highlight reel plays at the “six” this summer. If he outgrows his body, he’s a candidate to move to second or third base. The Georgia native plans to stay in-state and travel to Athens for college.

2024 National Showcase

Daniel Pierce is a 2025 SS/RHP with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Hoschton, GA who attends Mill Creek HS. Recorded a 6.49 second 60-yard dash time. Medium frame with wiry strength and excellent athleticism, speed. Primary shortstop with good glove to hand quickness and changes slot with accuracy and confidence. Good fundamentals with a solid arm up to 90 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter with a wider base and an inward toe tap into the stride. Really separates and has some length through the point of contact. Very good bat speed with a loose, under control stroke that is going to play for significant power as he gets stronger. All over the barrel in game with multiple extra base hits including an inside the park home run. Tremendous student. Verbal commitment to Georgia.
