#44 Kade Anderson
LHP Louisiana State
20/years old
6' 2" 179
Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 55 | Slider: 60 |
Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 50
Anderson had Tommy John surgery in April 2022 and missed his
Louisiana high school senior season the following spring. Louisiana State eased
him back into action last year as a midweek starter and weekend reliever, and
he was lights out coming out of the bullpen in the postseason. Ticketed for the
Tigers' conference rotation in 2025, he's one of the top left-handers and
sophomores in the college crop.
Anderson's fastball plays better than its average velocity
(sitting 91-94 mph, touching 96) because it carries past bats up in the strike
zone. He used an upper-70s downer curveball as his main breaking pitch as a
freshman but since has switched to a high-spin mid-80s slider that has all the
makings of a plus pitch. He also employs a mid-80s changeup with fade and sink
that should become at least an average offering as he uses it more often.
With a quick arm and athletic delivery, Anderson should
provide plenty of strikes. There's still projection remaining in his slender
6-foot-2 frame, and an uptick in stuff could make him a No. 2 starter. He also
comes with a high floor as a lefty with four effective offerings and
pitchability.

22. Atlanta Braves: Kade Anderson, LHP, LSU
The Atlanta Braves know how to develop pitchers, and LSU’s
Kade Anderson would be a classic fit. In 18 games (nine starts) his freshman
season in 2024, Anderson struck out 59 across 38 1/3 innings, whiffing 13.9
batters per nine innings to go along with a 3.99 ERA. However, he did walk 20
and had a 1.513 WHIP. He has really good stuff with a mid-90s fastball but
needs to work on his control. The Braves could help him do that.

Kade Anderson helped ease Jay Johnson’s mind Friday night by
announcing he was removing his name from the draft and would follow Dylan
Crews’ footsteps by going to school.
Anderson was ranked as the No. 2 player overall and the No. 2
left-handed pitcher in the state of Louisiana. He was ranked as the No. 130
prospect in the nation and the No. 19 left-handed pitcher in the country. Those
numbers will get you looks in the draft, but Anderson chose to go to the bayou
instead.
